Introduction

The church is a communion of believers to witness and serve for peace, justice and the integrity of creation among the poor and oppressed people.

Based on this, Urban Community Mission (UCM)-Jakarta has the obligation to joint forces to combat all forms of oppression, poverty, and injustice created by the un-just globalization in industry and technology.

Since 1983, UCM-Jakarta has served the low-wage's and un-organized factory workers and also addressed the plight of Indonesian migrant workers overseas.
UCM-Jakarta serves through organizing workshops and training programs for workers to enable them to form strong unions and people organizations to enable them to struggle to get access for the resources needed to better their lives.

In 1990, UCM-Jakarta through its membership in Urban Rural Mission Indonesia (URM-I) involved in peace building and conflict program in Aceh, Kalimantan, Poso, Mollucas & West Papua as well as to response to the disaster in Aceh and Yogyakarta (Central Java).

Objective
  1. To increase people's knowledge and people's awareness on their dignity and rights as God's creation.
  2. To equip people with legal knowledge and skills to improve their capacity to defend their rights.
  3. To build solidarity in the community.
  4. To encourage churches and its members to serve the poor and support these services.

Where We Works

We are present in the industrial areas in
greater Jakarta, Bekasi, Wanaherang,
Balaraja, Tangerang, Serang, and Batam, and the villages of migrant workers in Sukabumi, Indramayu, Aceh, Kalimantan, Poso, Mollucas, West Papua and Parapat, North Sumatra.

III. Center for Indonesian Migrant Workers (CIMW)

  • Research, Study, Monitoring and Publication.
  • Crisis Center: Providing Shelter, Legal Assistance, Individual and Family Counseling.
  • Education/Training: Seminar/Discus-sion/Consultation on Migrant Workers, Public Dialogue, Mobility and HIV-AIDS Training, Paralegal, Advocacy, Political Aspect of Migration, Trafficking, Re-Integration).
  • Network and Coalition: Advocacy and Campaign, Lobby and Negotiation, Internship Program in Malaysia & Korea)

(CIMW)

Apa dan Siapa CIMW?

adalah organisasi non pemerintah yang memeberikan perhatian kepada buruh migran yang tersingkirkan dalam proses pembangunan. saat ini CIMW didukung oleh aktivis ornop, pekerja komunikasi, pekerja bantuan hukum. keanggotaan CIMW bersifat terbuka dan non diskriminatif, agar menjadi sebuah organisasi demokratis yang tidak berafiliasi dengan partai politik, institusi pemerintah, militer dan organisasi yang diskriminatif.

TKI mampu mengatasi masalah mereka dan mengorganisir diri untuk memperjuangkan keadilan dan kesejahteraan.


Misi
  1. menumbuhkan kesadaran kritis akan hak dan kewajiban
  2. memperkuat buruh migran agar mampu menentukan nasibnya sendiri dan lebih berpatisipasi dalam membangun masyarakat adil dan demokratis.
